Location and Territory of WGS 1984 Indonesia | ARCGIS Coordinate System Key | UTM

This note can be used to determine the reference coordinates in the Arcgis application because since this post is still related to the previous note.

What is WGS?

WGS stands for World Geodetic System. In general, Indonesia has two types of coordinate systems that are commonly and often used, namely the Geographic Coordinate System or abbreviated as GCS and the one currently being discussed, namely the Universal Transverse Marcator (UTM).

GCS and UTM, this coordinate system uses the global datum WGS 84. This global datum is an approach as a reference in performing systematic calculations so as to produce systematic equations that we know as the coordinate system.

Locking the ARCGIS Coordinate System

The location and area of WGS 1984 can be used as a reference when operating and locking the coordinate system in the Arcgis application,

The following is the WGS 1984 UTM Zone in Indonesia:

The Northern and Southern UTM zones are defined by the intersection of the Equator and north and south longitudes.

There are 60 UTM Zones in the world today, but because this zone is divided into north and south, so a total of 120 UTM zones, the first zone starts from 180 degrees west longitude to 174 degrees west longitude, while the second zone starts from 174 degrees longitude west to 168 degrees west longitude, continue to the east starting from 174 degrees east longitude to 180 degrees east longitude. If the total number is calculated, there are 60 northern UTM zones and 60 southern UTM zones, and a total of 120 UTM zones.

This short note was deliberately made as a learning material, in case you forget it, you can remember it by opening this note.
